The Nature Awards for Scientific Mentoring in 2024 are now accepting applications.The Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science honor exceptional assistance and mentoring in science and acknowledge those who assist early career researchers in advancing their careers. This year’s prize, which is given to a different nation or area every year, is focused on mentors in West Africa, as defined by the UN. Past mentees are encouraged to suggest a mentor who has had a major influence on their professional lives.
The Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science is made up of two categories:
- The award for lifetime achievement in mentoring is open to individuals who were awarded their PhD or Medical Doctorate before 1995.
- The award for mid-career achievement is open to individuals who were awarded their PhD or Medical Doctorate in or after 1995.
Prize:
- Each award comes with a cash prize of US$10,000 (which will be shared in case there are joint winners in any category).
Nomination:
- Nominees may be nominated by colleagues and ex-colleagues or nominate themselves.
- Nominations for a candidate must include independent testimonials by five researchers (no more or less) mentored by their nominee, not all over the same period.
