Eramet Water Resource Innovation Challenge 2023

Deadline: 13th of September, 2023

Applications are encouraged from startups and SMEs with creative water management solutions.

The Eramet Water Resource Innovation Challenge 2023 has been introduced by Eramet in partnership with EIT RawMaterials as part of its dedication to sustainable and ethical mining operations. Although it is scarce and of poor quality, water is an essential resource in the mining and metals manufacturing industries. Water is used in the mining sector for a number of activities, including mineral processing, dust suppression, transporting and storing slurry, and extraction procedures. According to OECD 2012, by 2050, global water consumption is expected to rise by 55% as the water crisis caused by climate change gets worse.

The Eramet Water Resource Innovation Challenge is about taking action to tackle the water challenges. In fact, Eramet has made water conservation one of the objectives of its 2018-2023 CSR roadmap – and will very soon make it a major priority in its new roadmap. This innovation challenge aims to accelerate change within the mining and metals industry to minimize its environmental impact while also ensuring access to valuable resources. It calls for breakthrough solutions that will help create a better future for all.
