2024 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering

The QEPrize welcomes public submissions that honor a wide range of engineering breakthroughs from all areas of the profession, as well as a diverse range of nominators from throughout the world.

This year celebrates the tenth anniversary of the inaugural QEPrize award. We have honored 20 famous engineers whose discoveries have impacted billions of lives over the last decade. As we approach this landmark year, we are looking for nominations that genuinely exemplify technical achievement.

Award:

The £500,000 prize is the world’s most prestigious engineering award, given to up to 10 engineers who have made a daring, innovative technical invention that will benefit mankind worldwide.

Eligibility:

  • The QEPrize is a global prize that invites nominations from all across the world.
  • The sole restrictions are that neither self-nomination nor posthumous nomination are permitted.

Criteria:

The judges will use these criteria to select the winner, or winners, of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering:

  • What is it that this person has done (or up to ten people have done) that is a ground-breaking innovation in engineering?
  • In what way has this innovation been of global benefit to humanity?
  • Is there anyone else who might claim to have had a pivotal role in this development?
