The 7th Global Youth Environment Essay Competition 2023

Following the UN Climate Action Summit’s commitment to attaining carbon neutrality by 2050, carbon neutrality has gained attention as the greatest solution to the climate catastrophe on a global scale.

The transition to a civilization without carbon emissions is currently taking place. Globally, governments are updating significant laws and regulations, increasing funding for environmentally friendly ventures, and striving to create environmentally friendly infrastructure and technology. In parallel, both businesses’ and people’ roles are being enhanced.

In light of this, this year’s Global Youth Environment Essay Competition has chosen the essay topic of “Carbon Neutrality and the Role of Individuals,” giving young people around the world an opportunity to think about the roles they can play in various fields to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in response to climate change.

Eligibility:

  • Middle and high school students from any country
  • Grades between 7th and 12th in the U.S. education system or equivalent on May 31, 2023 (Last year, students from 46 countries participated in.)

 

 

 Application:

  • Essay Topic : Carbon Neutrality and the Role of Individuals
  • Entry Fee : No entry fee
  • Announcement of Winners : June 30, 2023 KST  (to be noticed individually)
  • Languages:  English or Korean (Choose one language.)
  • Word limit: Your essay must be shorter than 1,300 words in English or 800 words or less in Korean
    • excluding title, footnotes, bibliography or references

  • Certificate of Participation is issued to each participant.
