Applications are currently open for the 2024 NLNG Nigeria Prize for Science. The Nigeria Prize for Science recognizes excellence in scientific achievements and honors scientists from all over the world who contribute to the solution of a local or ‘Nigerian’ problem, as defined and publicized by the prize’s Advisory Board.
The Prize is an annual award designed to encourage the growth and use of science and technology. The pursuit of a famous science award is anticipated to strengthen research and technology in Nigeria, tackle challenges critical to the country’s growth, and assist raise living standards.

Application Procedure
- As the intention is to recognize the most relevant and effective solution to a prescribed problem for which Nigeria benefits, works of collaboration by two or more persons are also welcome.
- Only one entry per contestant(s) is permitted per competition year.
- Entries not submitted by the stated deadline and according to stated conditions shall not be considered
- .The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence.
Eligibility:
To be considered for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Science Award:
- The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide (Nigerians and non-Nigerians) involved in the application of science to proffer innovation and technologies for reducing the effects of climate change
- Members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges or their relatives are not allowed to enter their works for the Science Prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
- Nigeria LNG Limited staff or their family members are ineligible to enter the prize during their years of service and five (5) years post-service.
- The work should be of outstanding merit and should have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and/or provide an innovative technology for reducing the effects of climate change.
- The entry should be a completed scientific work, substantiated by either a proof of concept or tangible societal impact.
- Only one entry can be submitted by an individual or group
- All materials in support of the entry must be submitted within the time stipulated
Requirements:
- The prize is open to scientists and innovators from all over the world. To submit your entry, you must submit a research paper or project proposal that outlines your innovative solution to climate change.
