University of Groningen Scholarships for International Students

The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The University of Groningen offers Holland Scholarships to international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their master’s in Holland. The EEA consists of the EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Benefits

  • The successful candidate will receive a scholarship of € 2,249 per month, of which wage tax and social insurance premiums will be deducted.

Requirements

To be considered for the University of Groningen Scholarships, you must:

  • Must have a relevant master degree in the social or health sciences (economics, sociology, epidemiology, bioinformatics, statistics or a comparable discipline)
  • Must have strong quantitative research skills
  • Must have an interdisciplinary background, or affinity with working in an interdisciplinary team
  • Must be able to show perseverance, flexibility, project management and collaboration skills
  • Must be fluent in English (both oral and written)
  • Must be able to finish the PhD thesis in four years
  • Must enjoy planning and taking initiatives
  • Must enjoy academic writing and have the desire to publish
  • Must be able and willing to work in Groningen, in an international and interdisciplinary environment
