Member States and Non-Governmental Organizations with formal UNESCO partnerships are encouraged to submit proposals for the UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation in 2023. This prize recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals, groups of individuals, institutes or organizations in the field of the environment.

The UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation was established to recognize outstanding contributions made by individuals, groups of individuals, institutes, or organizations to environmental and natural resource research, environmental education and training, environmental awareness creation through the development of environmental information materials, and environmental conservation activities. The Prize’s goal is consistent with UNESCO’s principles and is tied to the Organization’s Program in the fields of environment, natural resources, and education for sustainable development.
