Software Engineering Internship – Summer 2023

We’re searching for bright, driven students who want to work with us to address some of the most difficult problems in financial technology. CME’s technology teams create and maintain front-end trading interfaces, risk management systems, and extremely low-latency electronic trading platforms, all of which are essential to the company’s operations. With enthusiasm and accuracy, we are committed to inventing, developing, and implementing customer-focused solutions.

Interns at CME Group Technology will get unmatched training in financial technology and electronic trading. Interns will have the chance to work on a range of projects and apps that have a direct influence on the international trade environment. Our interns have previously built cloud infrastructure, investigated blockchain technologies, and taken control of innovative apps that might transform the trade lifecycle

Technology from CME Students get the chance to learn more about CME’s operations, our position within the financial sector, and the kinds of technologies that power our markets through our summer internship program. Working with other brilliant and motivated students who have a love for FinTech, students will build both their technical skills and their network by having access to industry professionals.

Interns can participate in several core roles, including:

  • Application Development
  • System Design
  • Research and Proof of Concepts
  • DevOps and Cloud Migration
  • Automation

CME Technology Summer Internships are paid, full-time roles that typically last 10-12 weeks. They are hybrid roles, typically based out of our Chicago office. The summer program includes numerous opportunities to network with peers from across the country during a summer full of experiences such as a boat tour on Lake Michigan, tours of our data center, trading and coding challenges with prizes, an outing at an MLB game, lunch and learn speaker series, and other opportunities for professional development.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Studying Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience writing code in Java, Python, or C++
  • A passion for problem solving

Bonus qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Java
  • Previous technical experience
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux
  • Experience with JavaScript, SQL, or R
