The position of postdoctoral researcher in engineering materials with an emphasis on additive manufacturing is now open.

Responsibility :

Within the position as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of engineering materials, research (80%) and a minor part of teaching (20%) are included. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who can work in several of our ongoing research projects within the field of additive manufacturing. Examples of ongoing research include properties and microstructure of additively manufactured metals, as well as material and process development for additive manufacturing. The position is partly connected to CAM2: Centre for additive manufacturing – Metal, which means a close collaboration with both industry partners and researchers at other universities. The position will include both laboratory and theoretical parts. Examples of possible tasks are microstructure investigations, characterization of mechanical properties, and material- and process-development for additive manufacturing by powder bed fusion.

Eligibility :

The applicant should have knowledge and experience in characterization of microstructures and mechanical properties of metallic materials. It is a merit if the applicant has documented experience of processing-structure-property relationships for additively manufactured materials. Practical experience with powder bed-based additive manufacturing techniques, especially with electron beam technology, is also meritorious. Furthermore, it is a merit if the research has been published in scientific journals and at high-quality conferences. Requirements for employment are excellent ability to communicate in spoken and written English.

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

About this job:

This post is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The position as a postdoc is full-time. The starting date is by agreement.
