MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders Undergraduate Scholarship Program 2023 for North Africans (Fully Funded to study in the United States)

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program, sponsored by the Department of State’s U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships to deserving students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who represent the cultural, religious, and geographic diversity of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program has collaborated with the top American-style colleges in the MENA region for more than 16 years to provide participants with the information and abilities required for effective leadership. Tomorrow’s Leaders strengthen their critical thinking skills and find innovative solutions to the problems facing their communities, the MENA region, and the world by enrolling in top universities like the American University in Cairo, the American University in Beirut, and the Lebanese American University, which are rooted in the liberal arts tradition.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank/Gaza, or Yemen.

Undergraduate and graduate applicants must also meet the following requirements:

Undergraduate Program

  • Current high school senior or 2021-2022 graduate.
  • Current high school seniors must maintain their high academic achievement and pass their leaving exam.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English. Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 (received within two years of application date).
  • Demonstrate financial need. Applicants should be underrepresented or economically deserving students and provide supporting financial documentation.
  • Ability to travel and start their undergraduate program in August/September of 2023.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Maturity, adaptability, and leadership potential.

Graduate Program

  • Evidence of academic English proficiency as required by the relevant graduate program.
  • Commit to completing their master’s degree within two academic years.
  • Demonstrate financial need. Applicants should be underrepresented or economically deserving students and provide supporting financial documentation.
  • Ability to travel and start their undergraduate program in August/September of 2023.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Maturity, adaptability, and leadership potential.

  • Undergraduate participants have the opportunity to study abroad in the United States for one semester.
  • By engaging with host communities through volunteer projects and civic engagement activities, they deepen their understanding of American culture and its diverse societies.
  • Upon returning to their home countries, participants join a network of over 1000 program alumni serving as leaders across the MENA region.

Timeline:

  • The launch date of the online TLU application is September 5, 2022.
  • The deadline to submit the applications is December 5, 2022, at 11:59 pm EST.
