Mason University PhD Fellowship 2024-25

For the academic year 2024–2025, George Mason University, a preeminent public research university in Virginia, is inviting exceptional people to apply for its coveted PhD Fellowship program. The goal of this competitive fellowship is to support the next wave of economic academics who are prepared to tackle today’s policy issues and advance economic prosperity on a worldwide scale. A competitive full-time fellowship program, the PhD Fellowship is available to George Mason University doctorate candidates in economics. Their PhD Fellows work on projects that employ these perspectives to analyze global prosperity and social change while taking courses in public choice, market process economics, and institutional analysis. Tenure-track posts at colleges and institutions across the United States and Europe have been obtained by successful PhD fellows. Fellows will join a network of Mercatus students, alumni, and scholars who are conducting and engaging with cutting edge research in contemporary political economy.

Benefits:

  • Full tuition waiver: This means that Fellows will not have to pay any tuition fees for their doctoral studies. This can save Fellows tens of thousands of dollars over the course of their program.
  • Total stipend up to $200,000: This stipend is designed to cover the living expenses of Fellows. This includes housing, food, transportation, and other essential costs.
  • Health insurance and other benefits: Fellows are eligible for health insurance and other benefits, such as dental and vision insurance.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in economics or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Applicants must have a strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a PhD in economics.
  • Applicants must have a clear research agenda and potential for success in the PhD program.
  • Applicants must be proficient in English

Application:

    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended

  4. Attend an interview (if invited). If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an interview with a faculty committee.
