IJP German-Southeastern European Bursary 2023 (up to €3,800)
Deadline: 20th of January, 2023
The IJP German-Southeastern European Bursary 2023 application period is now open. Up to 10 journalists from Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia who are passionate about climate and energy issues can take advantage of this opportunity thanks to the bursary.
Journalists who are awarded the climate and energy bursary will have a greater understanding of the subject and have the chance to work and specialize both domestically and abroad. During their fellowship, they are welcome to do international research on a shared subject.
Program Information:
An introduction conference with a particular theme kicks off the scholarship program. The participating journalists will then start their stay at their respective host media outlets. For the duration of the scholarship, journalists from Germany will reside at a host media in one of the other countries, while journalists from those other countries will spend their time at a media in Germany.
The International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) chooses these media while taking the fellows’ preferences, credentials, and interests into account. The scholars will work on their own journalistic projects and primarily report for media in their home country while being somewhat integrated into the host media’s workflow. The journalists will enhance their understanding of climate and energy concerns throughout their six to eight-week stay, as well as their knowledge of the host nation and local journalists.
An end-of-program meeting brings the program to a close. A three-page report on the participants’ experiences is requested. Included in it should be every contribution they made while they were there. Following the exchange, they advise the participants to keep in touch with one another via the IJP alumni network, where they will have the opportunity to connect with numerous past IJP scholars in Germany and more than 40 other nations.
