IAEA Data Analysis Internship 2023

The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year and now accepting applications for data analysis interns for the 2023 cohort. The purpose of the programme is:

  • To provide interns with the opportunity to gain practical work experience in line with their studies or interests, and expose them to the work of the IAEA and the United Nations as a whole.
  • To benefit the IAEA’s programmes through the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields.

The IAEA is the global hub for nuclear field collaboration and is well-known as the world’s “Atoms for Peace and Development” agency within the United Nations family. The Agency promotes the safe, secure, and pacific use of nuclear technologies by collaborating with its Member States and numerous allies on a global scale.

The IAEA’s Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) develops and implements its nuclear safety and security program, which includes the organization’s efforts to safeguard the public from radiation exposure as well as to address the needs of its Member States in this area.

Benefits:

  • A monthly stipend of €1000.

 Eligibility:

  • Must be a minimum of 20 years of age.
  • Must have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
  • Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA’s internship programme.
  • Must have good written and spoken English essentials.
  • Have a university degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, or Finance/Economics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to cooperate effectively across organizational boundaries and the ability to establish effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
  • Must have developed organizational abilities.
  • Have strong IT capabilities, including Information Analytics Capabilities.
  • Must have a good understanding of concepts and solutions for data processing.
  • Have experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have experience with data sets.

Note:

  1. Fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian) will be considered as an asset.
  2. Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree.

 

 Application:

  • Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
