HEY Ambassador Program 2023 (Opportunity to attend global conferences and more)

For the HEY Ambassador Program in 2023, applications are now being accepted by the Ashley Lashley Foundation. With the help of UNICEF and other partners, the HEY Ambassador Program brings together top climate change campaigners for a nine-month intergenerational program. Through its effective advocacy efforts, the program enhances efforts to combat climate change and its effects on health while fostering a closer bond and relationship between the HEY Community and its participants.

The Ambassador program gives us the chance to advance our causes while boosting community participation, advancing our joint efforts to achieve climate justice in our various nations, and developing our leadership abilities.

You must be between the ages of 9 and 27 to be a HEY Ambassador.

The Role:

  • HEY Country Ambassadors will only represent one country of the world.
  • Ambassadors will be representatives of the HEY Campaign. They will be responsible for
    amplifying the HEY Campaign’s communities’ voices and impacting their local and national
    communities to take action for climate change and health.
  • Country Ambassadors will be asked to select a category in which they deem most fitting to
    them and their commitment to taking action for our environment and health.

Ambassadors Activities:

  • Engage in Regional Collaborations: They create local engagement in communities in every
    corner of the world to promote impact and action in climate and health.
  • Facilitate Action for the Climate Justice and Health: Within the HEY Ambassador
    Program, their partners facilitate connections and opportunities in their community for
    Ambassadors to promote action within their countries and respective regions through their
    practical climate and health action programmes.
  • Develop as an Advocate: They will be hosting workshops and providing toolkits for the
    entire Ambassador community, connecting Ambassadors with one another and harnessing
    skills that are required to influence change globally.
  • Networking Opportunities: They create a network that identifies programs that accelerate
    the growth of their HEY Ambassadors.
  • Grow the HEY Campaign Network: HEY Ambassadors are representatives, promoting the
    HEY Campaign values and programs within their local and global networks. Their
    responsibility is to help us spread the word about our programs and getting more young
    persons interested in climate and health action.

Benefits:

  • The most active Ambassadors will be selected to attend global conferences such as COP28,
    the HEY Global Youth Network Summit, etc.
  • The three (3) top performing Ambassadors and the two (2) best completed projects, from
    across the cohorts, will be selected and awarded with grant funding or technical support at
    the end of the programme.
  • The knowledge and skills capacities of Ambassadors will be built and strengthened in the
    different aspects of development to help them achieve success in their role and future
    endeavors.
  • Access to network with Ambassadors from across all regions.

Eligibility:

  • HEY Ambassador program 2023 is open to include refugees, asylum seekers and persons                              with disabilities and other minority and indigenous groupings.
  • Be proficient in English
  • Be between 9 to 27 years old

Requirements:

Time Commitments:

  • A 3-month duration of 4-6 hours weekly.
  • Monthly volunteer hours must be inclusive of climate action outside of The HEY
    Campaign.

Meetings:

  • Monthly meetings will be held with the respective Regional Focal Points.

Orientation Training:

  • Cohort 1: Monday, April 8th, 2023 | Time: 12 PM – 2 PM UTC -4
  • Cohort 2: Saturday, July 8th, 2023 | Time: 9 AM – 11 AM UTC -4
  • Mandatory capacity building sessions will occur for the duration of the programme.
