Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI)  Health Security Budget Advocacy Academy

Deadline: 18th of March, 2024

Applications are accepted for the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) Health Security Budget Advocacy Academy.

The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) is seeking applications from civil society organizations (CSOs) in Africa, with a focus on Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The academy aims to strengthen CSOs’ capacity for budget advocacy in the region.

GHAI, in collaboration with Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL), has been working on the Prevent Epidemics initiative to promote public demand and political will for enhanced and sustained domestic resource mobilization for epidemic response. GHAI’s country-led advocacy approach brought together policy leaders, civil society organizations and media in support of epidemic preparedness as a national priority in need of adequate and reliable funding.

Drawing from the lessons learned since 2018, GHAI developed the Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness: Facilitator’s Guide a step-by-step course for facilitators to teach epidemic preparedness advocacy techniques to officials in government and civil society organization advocates. The Facilitator’s Guide was developed based on GHAI’s Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness to illustrate the program’s advocacy approach and provide learning tools to bring Prevent Epidemics budget advocacy to scale in multiple countries through workshops and potentially online learning platforms.
