Global EbA Fund 2023

Deadline: 28th of April, 2023

Applications for the Global EbA Fund are currently accepted. Two financing tracks—one for general EbA project applications and the other for topical projects—were created by the Global EbA Fund in 2023. The General EbA project proposals track receives and evaluates entries year-round, while the Global EbA Fund makes financing choices every two years.

The Global EbA Fund, which is being implemented by IUCN and UNEP with funding from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), is a catalytic funding mechanism for supporting creative EbA approaches in order to foster environments that will allow for their mainstreaming and scaling up.

Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) is a natural approach that uses biodiversity and ecosystem services to make human societies less vulnerable to climate change and more resilient to it. EbA is described as the utilization of environmental services and biodiversity as a component of a larger adaptation strategy to assist people in coping with the negative consequences of climate change.
