Eni Award 2023 for Research and Technological Innovation

Deadline: 25th of November, 2022

The prize, which was established in 2008, currently recognizes practical research toward the energy transition. It has included dozens of scholars and experts from all across the world throughout the years. For 2023, there are three primary prizes: Eni Rewards for Energy Frontiers, Advanced Environmental Solutions, and Energy Transition, and awards for Young Researcher of the Year, Research Debut – Young Talents from Africa, and Eni Recognition of Innovation for its researchers.

Categories & Benefits

  • Eni Innovation awards (for Eni employees): three prizes were given out for the finest technological discoveries produced by Eni’s research and ideas with the highest potential for an effect in terms of the innovation they may generate.
  • Research Debut – Young Talents from Africa award: to speed up the transition to the circular economy, bio-economy, and environmentally sustainable business models, four awards will be given to African graduates who completed a degree or master’s thesis on the following topics: development of a sustainable and resilient nature within a continuously changing climate scenario, through the enhancement of nature-based solutions, and the preservation and restoration of natural capital. In celebration of the award’s tenth anniversary and the creation of this category in 2017.
  • Young Researcher of the Year award: two awards for graduates with Ph.D. theses from Italian universities on the following topics: development of a sustainable and resilient nature within a constantly changing climate scenario, through the enhancement of nature-based solutions, and preservation and restoration of natural capital, in order to accelerate the transition towards the circular economy, bio-economy, and environmentally sustainable business models, in accordance with the “One Health – Planetary Health” philosophy.
  • Energy Transition award: technological innovation aimed at reducing carbon footprint during the transition to an environmentally neutral energy production system by improving energy efficiency in transportation and industrial processes and promoting the use of sustainable (including economically viable) technologies for capturing, using, and storing carbon dioxide (CCUS) as a bridge to the decarbonization of the energy system.
  • Advanced Environmental Solutions award: technological innovation to foster the development of a sustainable and resilient nature within a constantly changing climate scenario, through the enhancement of nature-based solutions, as well as the preservation and restoration of natural capital, in order to accelerate the transition towards the circular economy, bio-economy, and environmentally sustainable business models, in accordance with the “One Health – Planetary Health” perspective.
  • Energy Frontiers award: In the framework of decarbonizing energy systems, technical innovation in renewable energy and related energy management and storage technologies is required.
