Elisabeth & Amélie Fund 2023 for Foreign Masters Students in Belgium (up to €5,000)

Deadline: 20th of October, 2022

The Fund awards funding to foreign master’s degree candidates so they can participate in an internship in sustainable water management in a poor nation.

In addition to funding on-the-ground internships for students from developing countries studying in Belgium, the Elisabeth & Amelie Fund promotes sustainable water management in underdeveloped nations.

The Elisabeth & Amelie Fund considers an integrated strategy for managing water that incorporates sociological and/or technological factors. The student’s home country or another developing nation will be the location of the internship. It will be connected to a master’s thesis or its equivalent, and it will be the student’s Belgian academic institution’s duty.

Benefits

  • The grant will cover the expenses inherent to the internship, up to a maximum of €5,000. The internship, which should last 1 to 2 months, must take place between December 2022 and the end of August 2023. About ten grants shall be awarded.

Eligibility

  • Open to students from developing countries who are pursuing a master’s level degree (master’s, specialisation master’s or a second bachelor’s degree)
  • Their work on a thesis should be linked to water management.

Selection Criteria

  • Objective: The candidate’s end-of-year project must explicitly address the internship’s connection to the management of or access to water in developing nations.
  • Pertinence: The candidate’s work at the local level and the outcomes it produces address significant regional challenges.
  • Capabilities: The desired budget must be adequate for the candidate. He or she must possess enough resources to finish the internship in the required circumstances.
  • Originality: The candidate has chosen an unusual strategy for his internship, and the framework in which he will work is also new. They differ from customary techniques or frameworks in some ways.
  • Impact: What is learned during the internship has significant added value.
