Deutsche Welle (DW) Journalism Traineeship 2024-2025

For the DW Journalism Traineeship 2024–2025, applications are now being accepted. Young people from all over the world who are interested in a thorough, exceptional quality journalism program with a global broadcaster are sought after by Deutsche Welle.

Candidates should have experience in journalism or be passionate about switching from law, economics, the sciences, technology, or IT to journalism. They are looking for individuals who are creative and open-minded.
Specifically, they are looking for experts from diverse disciplines. You should also be able to think independently and develop own ideas.

In seminars, workshops, and, of course, at the DW editorial offices and their correspondent bureaux in Washington and Brussels, the program covers the range of skills a journalist of the future needs, including TV moderating, multimedia storytelling, data journalism, social media, and virtual reality. The Grimme Prize and the CNN Journalism Award have both been given to DW trainees in the past. They also participate in long-term, creative initiatives that span the globe. The trainees often continue to work with DW after the traineeship.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have completed a university or college degree or apprenticeship.
  • For the bilingual DW traineeship they are looking for:
    native speakers of a DW programme language with excellent knowledge of

    • English and a good knowledge of German;
    • English native speakers with a good knowledge of German
    • German native speakers with excellent knowledge of English
