Australian Government Destination Scholarships for International Students

The Destination Australia Program funded by the Commonwealth Government is designed to encourage domestic and international students to study in regional Australia, to grow and develop regional Australian tertiary education providers and to offer students a high-quality learning experience.

The Destination Australia Program supports regional and remote Australian tertiary education providers by promoting activities that contribute to growth and sustainability, offers students from Australia and overseas the opportunity to undertake high quality education, training and research, and to experience life in regional and remote Australia and ensures regions share in the social, cultural and economic benefits that international students bring.

Eligibility

  • Be a domestic or an international student
  • Have an unconditional offer to study in one of the participating universities in Australia
  • Hold a student visa for the scholarship’s duration
  • Meet the specific university and course requirements.
  • Hold a student visa for the scholarship’s duration
  • A UQ alumni commencing a different program (for example, Master’s after completing a Bachelor’s degree)
    Have a full offer to study an eligible program delivered entirely at the UQ Gatton campus in 2022 (you don’t need to accept your full offer by the scholarship application deadline).
  • Must study full-time via Internal study mode at UQ’s Gatton campus for the scholarship’s duration
    reside in a regional area of Australia for the scholarship’s duration as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016 (Australian Bureau of Statistics)
  • Interested applicants must be registered for these programs; Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Bachelor of Equine Science, Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honors), Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, Bachelor of Wildlife Science, Master of Agribusiness (#24), Master of Agribusiness (#32), Master of Agricultural Science (#24), Master of Agricultural Science (#32), Master of Animal Science (#24), Master of Animal Science (#32)
  • Dual degrees with the Bachelor of Agribusiness and Master of Agricultural Science (Plant Protection Major) are not eligible because they are not delivered full-time at UQ Gatton.

Benefits

  • A financial funding of AUD $15,000 per year of study

  • Submit a personal statement (limit 300 words)
  • Attach all your supporting documents before you submit.
  • Must submit your application by 23:59pm AEST on the closing date.
