ASEAN Youth Biodiversity Leaders Fellowship Programme 2023

This fellowship program intends to increase your network, develop your talents, and increase the effect you have on conservation.

The future is already in the hands of young leaders. The fight against biodiversity loss is already aided by youth-led conservation initiatives like awareness-raising campaigns, coastal clean-ups, and online task forces to stop illegal wildlife trafficking via social media, among others.

To create a YBL Cohort, two Youth Biodiversity Leaders will be chosen from each ASEAN Member State annually. Youth biodiversity leaders are proponents and coordinators of local conservation initiatives.

Funding

  • Selected applicants will receive in-depth training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to take their conservation impact to the next level
  • For YBL Academy & other optional in-person meetings, if selected for that meeting:
    • Roundtrip economy airfare (only flights within Southeast Asia will be funded)
  • For YBL Academy & other optional in-person meetings, if selected for that meeting:
    • In-country travel, accommodation, and general food expenses covered for the duration of the Academy.
  • Visa fees if necessary.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be between 18 – 35 years old;
  • Be a citizen of an ASEAN Member State, residing in the ASEAN region;
  • Member, coordinator or founder of a youth organisation, university nature club, or other community initiative for biodiversity;
  • Must have experience with biodiversity projects (awareness raising, campaigning, conservation, etc);
  • Committed to all components of the YBL Fellowship programme;
  • Able to communicate in English (written and spoken).
