Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy Incubation Programme 2024

The Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy is an eight-month fully financed incubation program for prospective artisan entrepreneurs in the Plumbing and Electrical professions.Participants in the program will receive business training and assistance in starting their own enterprises. The curriculum will be full-time and in-person, beginning on April 15, 2024. Allan Gray Makers funds the StartUp Academy. This means that all program costs, including a modest transportation allowance, are covered, and all you have to provide is your dedication, time, and energy!

Programme content includes:  

1. Training in Entrepreneurial Mindset, New Venture Creation, Marketing and Sales, Business Management, Financial Management, Branding, E-skills for business and Personal Mastery.
2. Opportunities to work in teams and network with other businesses.
3. Access to Personal Mentorship, Business Shadowing, Industry-Expert Coaches and Business Advisory.
4. Access to markets with a focus on making your first sale.
5. Access to Office Space.
6. Support to start your business and to write your Trade test
7. Graduates have access to life-long support.
8. Venue Location: Gauteng (Johannesburg), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda/Ermelo) Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini district/Durban) and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay district/Gqeberha).

Eligibility:

You can apply if you are:

• Age: 18-34 Must be a South African citizen or hold a permanent residence status.
• Must have completed a relevant learning programme in the Plumbing or Electrical Trades with N6 and 18 months apprenticeship.
• Must qualify to take a trade test (having a trade test certificate is advantageous)
• Location: Gauteng (Johannesburg City, Ekurhuleni City, Mogale City and Ruimsig), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda Municipality) Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini District) and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan)  Industry: Plumbing & Electrical.
• Intentions: Desire to start their own business.
