Allan Gray Makers Entrepreneurship Inter-College Competition 2024 (Fully Funded)

The 2024 Entrepreneurship Inter-College Competition is now accepting entries! The TVET students’ intercollegiate competition aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture. Students enrolled in any of South Africa’s 50 public TVET colleges are eligible to register for the 2024 academic year.

Categories:

  • BUSINESS IDEA: You must have a profitable business concept that can exchange goods or services for payment.
  • TECH BUSINESS: You must have a profitable business concept that can exchange goods or services for payment.
  • ARTISAN BUSINESS: You must have an existing business with paying customers in the technology industry.
  • GENERAL BUSINESS: You must have an existing business with paying customers that doesn’t fall under the other categories.

There is no entry fee for the Allan Gray Makers InterCollege Entrepreneurship Competition. Personal data will be used in accordance with current data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent. Entrants may not use or reference Allan Gray Makers InterCollege for commercial or promotional purposes without prior written consent.

Next you will receive a response from the competition coordinators. Entries are reviewed by the competition coordinators at each of the 50 public colleges. Only those will be accepted to participate in the internal round of the competition. Please note that only fully completed entries will be accepted.

Unfortunately, once an entry is submitted, changes can not be made.

Participants who have received confirmation that their entries have been accepted will be shortlisted and invited to pitch their ideas or businesses in an internal university round, hosted by the coordinator/s at the college where they are registered students.
The college coordinators will communicate the date, time and format of the internal university round.

Prizes will be paid by electronic transmission into a nominated bank account within 30 working days of notifying the winner.

Benefits:

  • Not only do students have the opportunity of gettingtheir share of R120 000 in prizes, but students also get mentorship and business support for a year.
  • Most importantly, the winners get to put their colleges on the map and enjoy the bragging rights of being an Inter-College category winner.
  • Students also get to interact and network with other like-minded students in the technical space and hopefully collaborate to build high impact businesses.
  • Each year the entries for the competition opens in March and closes in April. Students enter the competition by completing an online application form.

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to students registered at any of the 50 public TVET College in South Africa.
  • No, employees any of the 50 public TVET Colleges are not eligible to participate in the competition.
  • Entrants must own at least 50% of the business they are submitting for the competition.
  • Only one member of the business can be the representative throughout the competition.
  • Business ideas related to or existing in tobacco, firearms (excepting sporting use), alcohol, adult content, and gambling industries will not be considered.
  • Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
  • Entries found to be incomplete, non-compliant, illegible, or submitted after the closing date may be withdrawn from consideration at the discretion of Allan Gray Makers.
  • Entrants found to have wilfully or negligently misrepresented information may be disqualified. Winners identified as having misrepresented information may be required to return prizes.
  • In case of termination or amendment, entrants waive any rights against Allan Gray Makers InterCollege, and the period of the competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of AGIC

 

Application:

The competition is open to students currently registered at one of the 50 public TVET colleges in South Africa. To qualify to participate, students need to be:

  • Register an account using your name and email address.
  • You will receive a confirmation email with the details you need to log in to your account.
  • Complete the entry form. You can return to the form at a later stage if you need extra time to process.
  • Once you have completed the form and are happy with your answers, click SUBMIT!
  • You will receive a confirmation email, of your submission.
