AFS Global STEM Accelerators 2023 Exchange Programme for Young Women (Fully-funded)

Deadline: 15th of March, 2023

This is an exceptional full scholarship program for girls who are motivated to contribute to the solution of some of the largest global concerns facing the world today.
Nowadays, women make up more than half of the workforce globally who have a college degree. Yet, just 28% of women work in STEM disciplines. Girls and women who want to pursue careers in STEM sometimes encounter difficult obstacles in fields where males have traditionally held the majority positions. This initiative, which is devoted to the advancement of women in STEM professions, was developed as a result. AFS can begin to reverse this trend and expand the opportunities for views by giving girls from all around the world the chance to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

About the Programme and Scholarship:

Scholarship winners will participate in 12 week all-virtual programmes focusing on emerging and critical
STEM skills and fields, global competence education, and social impact (co-developed with the University
of Pennsylvania). Scholars will enrich their STEM knowledge and skills through interactive, hands-on
curriculum, while developing critical global competencies, including problem-solving, analytical skills,
intercultural understanding, and the ability to build bridges across cultures.
The programme culminates with team projects and presentations that offer potential solutions to realworld challenges, with an emphasis on climate change and the energy transition. Scholars who complete
the programme earn the Advanced Certificate on Global Competence for Social Impact, awarded by AFS
and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy.
