For the African Union Civic Tech Fund (AUCTF) 2.0, applications are currently being accepted.Dynamic African projects now have the chance to grow and accelerate their creative civic tech solutions with the help of the African Union Civic Tech Fund (AUCTF). This appeal is for you if you are using technology to empower citizen-led, revolutionary action throughout the African continent. Grant call winners will be able to develop and accelerate their civic-tech projects and activities with up to €15,000 in financial support. Funding requests must be in line with Agenda 2063, the African Union’s blueprint and master plan, in order for Africa to meet its development objective of inclusive and sustainable growth. Local organizations and initiatives that are registered and operating inside African nations are eligible to enter the competition.

The second round of the AUCTF presents an opportunity for dynamic African organizations, initiatives, and projects. This 12-month initiative seeks to catalyse and scale innovative civic tech solutions that harness the power of technology to drive citizen-led transformative action across the African continent. In particular, the Fund responds to the need to drive forward meaningful citizen participation in spaces of governance through the innovative use of data and digital technologies to address governance and development challenges while recognising the central importance of Africa’s youth in shaping the future of the continent.

Benefits:

  • Financial Support; Financial support will be awarded through multiple rounds focusing on specific geographic and thematic areas. Winners will receive grants of up to € 15,000 to upscale their projects. These grants can be used to scale and grow existing initiatives
  • Capacity Support: The Fund offers a capacity support program that will be designed and tailored to the specific needs of the selected initiatives. Technical assistance will be offered in the form of workshops, including support from experienced technologists and data scientists, operational guidance, masterclasses, and mentorship sessions

Eligibility:

You are invited to apply if you:

  • Are an African organisations or initiative registered (or domiciled) in any African Union Member State.
  • Have a project committed to leveraging digital technology for civic engagement, transparency, and community driven development.
  • Are led by and addressing the challenges faced by African women, youth and marginalised groups.

  • Completed and submitted application form
  • Company registration document (or that of a registered partner organisation)
  • Most recent organisational report (or proof of activity in the last year)
  • Budget and financial management structure
  • Sustainability strategy
  • Signed letter of recommendation
