Since 2016, the Africa Earth Observation (AEO) Challenge has been an annual open innovation contest with the goal of finding new space technology.
This competition aims to stimulate business development in the African space industry and raise awareness of the importance of earth observation data on the continent and across a variety of industries, including mining, logistics, insurance, and food and water security.
Remote sensing techniques are used in Earth observation to obtain data about the planet’s physical, chemical, and biological systems. Following that, this data can be utilized to track alterations in both natural and man-made ecosystems.
