The YSEALI Advancing Agribusiness Digital Marketing Regional Workshop 2023 is currently accepting applications.
The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) will host a five-day Advancing Agribusiness Digital Marketing Regional Workshop in Dili, Timor-Leste on February 27–March 3, 2023, to provide young leaders with the tools they need to leverage technology to advance agribusiness in the area.
In the workshop, we’ll cover:
- A series of presentations and workshops to equip participants with skills to develop digital
marketing strategies to expand agribusiness, including: global and ASEAN food security,
sustainable agri-tech and digital businesses, and agribusiness beyond the pandemic. - Development of digital marketing strategies and a presentation competition to select a
winning team based on knowledge learned. - A site visit to local sustainable agribusiness to see what it takes to implement strategies at
scale and in practice. - Cultural exchange and bonding experiences between all participants to enable future
collaboration.
Background:
Although Southeast Asia’s agriculture industry is active and prepared for expansion, there are a number of significant obstacles to overcome. Global food production must treble between 2012 and 2050, according to the UN, and climate change is already having an impact in Southeast Asia. In addition, supply systems are already experiencing disruptions. Additionally, the majority of farmers in the area continue to experience financial instability, and the agricultural sector is largely underfunded.
Young agricultural entrepreneurs are leading the way in several Southeast Asian nations in tackling these issues. With 31% of the world’s rice output, Southeast Asia is already a major exporter and manufacturer of agricultural products. There are 682 million people living in the region, and their median age is 30. For agri-food and forestry, Bain and Temasek believe that there are $225 billion in green economic prospects in the area. Southeast Asia offers prospects for sustainable growth and has a young population, which might pave the way for success.
Young agricultural entrepreneurs may create and implement digital marketing strategies, use cutting-edge technologies, and expand their local and regional market potential thanks to technology.
Eligibility:
- Open to young agribusiness entrepreneurs in the Southeast Asia region;
- They should be interested in using technology to drive agribusiness in the region
